Parable of the Great Supper

Jesus tells of a man who threw a great banquet and invited many guests. However, when the time came for the banquet, all of the those invited made excuses and did not come. The man then instructed his servant to invite the poor, crippled, blind, and lame to come and enjoy the banquet instead.

Parable of the Good Samaritan

Jesus tells of a traveler who is beaten and robbed by thieves and left to die on the road. A priest and a Levite both pass by the man without helping, but a Samaritan, despised by the Jews, stops and cares for him, and later pays for his lodging and care. This story teaches that love and compassion should be shown to all people, regardless of their background or social status.

Parable of the Manager

A dishonest manager who, upon discovering he will be fired, quickly works to gain the favor of his master's debtors by forgiving a portion of their debts. Jesus uses the parable to teach about the importance of being shrewd and wise in handling worldly wealth, and how one cannot serve both God and money.

Parable of the Midnight Visitor

A man who receives an unexpected visitor late at night goes to his neighbor's house to ask for bread. Despite the inconvenience, the neighbor eventually gives him bread because the visitor persists. Jesus uses this parable to encourage persistence in prayer and reliance on God.

Parable of the Treasure and the Pearl

A man discovers a treasure buried in a field and sells everything he has to buy the field. Another man finds a valuable pearl and sells everything he has to buy it. Jesus emphasizes that the Kingdom of Heaven is more valuable than anything in this world and is worth sacrificing everything for.

Parable of the Unmerciful Servant

The Parable of the Unmerciful Servant is a story told by Jesus in which a king forgives his servant's enormous debt. However, that same servant refuses to forgive a fellow servant's smaller debt. This parable teaches that we should forgive others just as God forgives us.

Jesus taught about love, forgiveness, and righteousness. He performed numerous miracles, healing the sick, feeding the hungry, and calming the storm. His teachings and miracles revealed his divine power and compassion.

Story of the Absent King

The Parable of the Absent King is a story told by Jesus about a nobleman who goes on a journey to be appointed as king and entrusts his servants with money, instructing them to use it to gain profit. Upon his return, he rewards the faithful servants but punishes the unfaithful one who did not use the money properly. The parable teaches the importance of using our resources wisely and faithfully in the service of God.

The Birth of Jesus

Jesus was born in Bethlehem to Mary and Joseph. Angels announced Jesus' birth to shepherds who came to see the child they were told was the Christ. Jesus' birth fulfilled many prophecies of how God would send His anointed one, Savior of the world.
